"Bolshy red, creamy-woody oak, boozy, coconut and cream, rum n raisin. Sheesh, this is XL. Waves of dark fruit, coconut, chocolate and booze-soaked fruit, but mostly that lavish lushness of coconutty stuff here. Wow. Haven’t seen a wine like this in a long time. You’ll need a guide to find yourself through this but those who like this style will be well rewarded. 88 Points"
Winefront, Mike Bennie www.winefront.com.au
"Very deep, impenetrable appearance is impressive here. It smells strongly of primary aromas like coconutty oak, blackberry fruit, hot tar and dusty leather, then the flavours track the nose faithfully. It's big and potent, syrupy, sweetly oaky, and warm with elevated alcohol. A big mouthful. 87 points"
The Real Review, Ralph Kyte-Powell www.therealreview.com
"A big mouthful of fruit and oak here, not to mention alcohol. Everything about this wine is dark and dense. Dark chocolate, blackberry, cassis, dark toasted spices, licorice, tar and camphor oak notes. A most hearty, meat-and-three-veg kind of wine, with 6 years in bottle delivering supple tannins and savouriness 86 points."
